Day 1 – Chicago - July 6

Depart pickups and travel to Chicago for an overnight.

 

Day 2 – (D) - Anchorage - July 7

Guests fly from Chicago to Anchorage, where they will be met via John Hall’s Alaska motorcoach and transferred to the Hotel Captain Cook for the evening. A welcome dinner awaits guests at the hotel.

 

 

Day 3 – (B, L, D) - Talkeetna - July 8

Board John Hall’s Alaska motorcoach and head north. Stop at Dream a Dream Kennels en route to experience dog sledding and lunch! Arrive in Talkeetna midafternoon and enjoy free time to explore this historic town. Overnight at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge.

 

 

 

Day 4 – (B, L, D) - Talkeetna and Denali National Park - July 9

Start the day with an exhilarating morning Mahay’s Jet Boat tour of Devil’s Canyon. Board John Hall’s Alaska motorcoach and journey to the expansive landscapes of Denali National Park. Relax in the park area for two nights.

 

Day 5 – (B, L, D) - Denali National Park - July 10

Today guests will embark on a 42-mile journey into Denali National Park. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy lunch upon returning to the entrance. Enjoy this early afternoon at leisure with free time to add on optional activities (guests' expense).

 

 

Day 6 – (B, L, D) - Denali National Park to Talkeetna to Anchorage - July 11

Enjoy breakfast before departing Denali via Alaska Railroad GoldStar Service from Denali National Park to Talkeetna. Continue from Talkeetna to Anchorage via John Hall’s Alaska motorcoach and overnight at the Hotel Captain Cook tonight.

 

Day 7 – (B, L, D) - Anchorage to Seward - July 12

Depart Anchorage this morning to continue south on the Kenai Peninsula to Seward. Enjoy a 6-hour Kenai Fjords National Park and Wildlife Cruise visiting a variety of glaciers and wildlife. Return to Seward for an overnight and dinner.

 

 

Day 8 – (B, L, D) - Homer - July 13

Enjoy breakfast and head across the Peninsula to Homer, where guests can see where Alaskans have a weekend getaway. After lunch, the rest of the afternoon is free. Enjoy dinner at leisure this evening and overnight at Homer Aspen Hotel and Suites.

 

 

Day 9 – (B, L, D) - Homer Free Day - July 14

Today guests will enjoy an optional activity including hiking, kayaking, fly out bear viewing, winery/brewery tour, or fishing. Regroup this evening for dinner. Overnight Aspen Hotel and Suites.

 

 

Day 10 – (B, D) - Homer and Anchorage - July 15

Guests enjoy breakfast before traveling back to Anchorage via motorcoach. On return, check into the Hotel Captain Cook for a relaxing afternoon in downtown Anchorage with dinner at leisure. Overnight Hotel Captain Cook.

 

Day 11 – (B, D) - Anchorage Activity Day - July 16

Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. Today is a day of rest and leisure for guests. Optional excursions will be available for advanced purchase. Examples include, but are not limited to, flightseeing, bear viewing, golfing, spa experience, and hiking.

 

 

Day 12 – (B, L) - Katmai National Park - July 17

This morning, guests embark on an early flight to visit Katmai National Park and see the iconic image of Katmai brown bears feasting on salmon over Brooks Falls. This unique experience only happens during the month of July with salmon runs up the stream. After a full day, dinner awaits at the hotel on return to Anchorage.

 

Day 13 – (B) - Fly Home - July 18

Transfer to Ted Stevens International Airport for your scheduled flight home.

These tours involve a variety of active experiences including hiking,climbing steps, or longer walking tours. We recommend a good level of fitness to enjoy these tours. On occasion you may need to walk with your luggage for a short distance from transportation to your accommodations which may involve stairs.These tours may be difficult for anyone with a mobility device such as a walker or cane.
