Day 1: Our Journey Begins
Well depart our scheduled pick-up locations
before flying out of Chicago.
Day 2: Arrive Dublin City Tour Guinness
Storehouse
Following arrival at Dublin Airport, you will be met
by your driver/guide and escorted to your awaiting motorcoach.
This morning you will enjoy a tour of Dublin City, founded as a
Viking settlement and home to the Irish Parliament since
the creation of the Irish Free State in 1922. On your tour, you
will see the Georgian Squares with their 18th century houses,
St. Patricks Cathedral, the Phoenix Park (the biggest
town park in Europe), statue-filled OConnell Street and
the fashionable Grafton Street. You will also see Trinity
College, which houses the Book of Kells. No visit to Dublin
would be complete without a visit to the Guinness Brewery
founded in 1759 by Arthur Guinness. Here you will enjoy a
self-guided tour and a pint of Guinness in the 360-degree roof
top bar while enjoying some spectacular views of Dublin City.
This afternoon you will check into your hotel for an overnight
stay. This evening you will regroup with your fellow travelers
and enjoy a welcome dinner in your hotel.
Day 3: Powerscourt House and Gardens Glendalough
Avoca Waterford
This morning you depart Dublin and travel south to
County Wicklow known as the Garden of Ireland. Your first visit
this morning will be to Powerscourt House and Gardens. This
Palladian mansion built in 1730 was badly damaged by fire in
1974. It was re-roofed in 1996 and opened to the public. The
gardens at Powerscourt were first laid when the house was built
in 1730 and a century later the 6th Viscount Powerscourt
instructed his architect, Daniel Robertson, to draw up new
schemes for the gardens. From here, you continue to Glendalough
(Valley of Two Lakes) where you travel back in time while
enjoying a guided tour of this early 7th century monastic
settlement. Your tour continues through the beautiful Vale of
Avoca to the Avoca hand weavers (the oldest in Ireland) and in
a guided tour experience this very old craft. From here, you
travel to Waterford for a one-night stay in The Granville
Hotel. This evening you will enjoy dinner in your hotel.

Day 4: House of Waterford Crystal Cobh
Kinsale
This morning you will visit the House of Waterford
Crystal for a guided tour. You will see highly skilled local
craftsmen demonstrate crystal blowing and cutting in the new
state-of-the-art visitor center. You will also have some time
to visit the retail store before departing. From here you
travel along the southern coastline to Cobh, one of the main
points of emigration during the great famine and the last port
of call of the Titanic. Here, you will visit The
Queenstown Story which portrays the hardship of life on board
a ship as it sailed to the New World. Annie
Moore, the first ever emigrant to be processed on Ellis Island
when it officially opened on 1st January 1892, left from Cobh
with her two brothers. Following your visit, you continue to
Kinsale where you check into the Trident Hotel overlooking
Kinsale Harbour. Kinsale is a historic fishing town on the
southern coastline of County Cork. It has some old cobble stone
streets and many interesting shops and pubs. It is renowned for
its restaurants and is known as the gourmet capital of Ireland.
This evening you will have dinner in the hotels Pier One
Restaurant while enjoying the view over Kinsale Harbour.

Day 5: Blarney Killarney
This morning you depart Kinsale and travel to Blarney,
where you will visit Blarney Castle and Gardens. The castle was
built in 1446, and today you will have an opportunity to climb
the spiral stairs to the top of the castle and kiss the famous
Blarney Stone, said to bestow the gift of eloquence on those
who dare. As you make your way through the castle grounds, you
can also visit the Castle Gardens and Rock Close. This will be
followed by some free time to visit The Blarney Woollen Mills,
which carries a wide range of sweaters, tweeds, china, and
crystal. From here you continue to Beautys Home,
Killarney for a two-night stay in The Killarney International
Hotel. This evening you will have dinner in your hotel.

Day 6: Ring of Kerry
Today, you embark on one of Irelands most famous
tours The Ring of Kerry. Your first stop this morning
will be the Kerry Bog Village where you can visit little
thatched cottages and see how people would have lived in
Ireland many years ago. Your tour continues through the wild
and rugged landscape of the Iveragh Peninsula which has some
breathtaking views of the Atlantic coastline. You will pass
through the towns of Killorglin, Glenbeigh, Cahersiveen and
Waterville to Sneem. Your tour then winds its way through the
mountains taking in some fine views of the Lakes of Killarney
and the Ladies View before returning to Killarney. The
remainder of the evening is free to enjoy Killarney at your
leisure. You may choose to have dinner in one of its many
restaurants or simply wander around its bustling streets and
let the sound of Irish music draw you into one of the
towns lively pubs. Overnight: The Killarney International
Hotel.
Day 7: Tralee Shannon Ferry Cliffs of
Moher The Burren - Galway
This morning, you bid farewell to Killarney and travel
to Tralee, capital town of County Kerry and home to the famous
Rose of Tralee Festival. You continue to Tarbert where you
board the Shannon Ferry, which crosses the Shannon Estuary to Killimer. From here you take the coast road to the majestic Cliffs of Moher standing 214m (702 feet) at their highest point. Following some free time to view the cliffs, your tour winds its way through the lunar-type landscape of the Burren, which takes its name from the Irish word
'bhoireann', meaning 'a stony place' or 'a rocky place',
which is a good description for this 350 sq. kilometre
limestone plateau. You continue along the shores of Galway Bay
to Galway City for an overnight stay. Overnight: The Harbour

Day 8: Cong Sligo
Donegal
This morning you bid farewell to Galway and travel to
Cong, one of the main locations for the film The Quiet
Man. You will visit the Quiet Man Cottage Museum, followed
by a walking tour of Cong. You will see many of the locations
for the film, such as the Dying Mans House, Pat
Cohans Bar, the Reverend Playfairs House, the
courting scenes, the fight scenes, and the John Wayne and
Maureen OHara commemorative statute. Departing Cong your
tour continues northwards passing by the Knock Shrine, now an
internationally ecognized Marian Shrine with one and a
half million pilgrims visiting annually. You travel to
Drumcliffe in County Sligo, set against the striking backdrop
of the Benbulben Mountain. It is best known as the final
resting place of one of Irelands great poets W.B. Yeats.
Found in the churchyard, his grave is marked with a simple
headstone with the inscription, "cast a cold eye on life, on
death, horseman, pass by." From here its on to Donegal
where you will check into the luxurious and historic Lough Eske
Castle for a two night stay.
Lough Eske Castle has a long history dating back to the 14th-century when the ODonnells, a powerful Donegal clan, had their seat at the original Lough Eske Castle. In the 1860s the castle was transformed into a more comfortable and refined residence, with dramatic turrets, exquisite stained-glass windows and intricate stone carvings. In the 1990s a local business man restored the castle to its original splendour and in 2007 Lough Eske Castle received its first hotel guests. This evening you will enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the castles Gallery Bar followed by dinner in the award-winning Cedars Restaurant. Overnight: Lough Eske Castle (B, D)
Day 9: Donegal
Today you will enjoy a tour of County Donegal. You will stop in Ardara - centre of the Donegal homespun and knitting industry where you will experience a hand weaving demonstration in the Triona Design Center. You will also have some free time for shopping and a complimentary Irish Coffee before departing. Your tour then winds its way around the Blue Stack mountain range before stopping for lunch in Leos Tavern - family home of Irelands international singing star Enya. Poets, painters and writers have never fully succeeded in conveying the varied beauty of this wonderland of mountains, lakes and coastline. You continue through the scenic Finn Valley before returning to your hotel where you will have the remainder of the evening free to enjoy the castle grounds and facilities. Day 10: Belleek Toomebridge
This morning you depart Donegal and travel to Belleek
on the banks of the River Erne, most famous for the fine Parian
China produced here at Belleek Pottery, the oldest in
reland. The china is valued by collectors from all over the
world. Following a guided tour, you continue along the banks of
Lough Erne to Omagh and from here
to Toomebridge where you will stop at Crosskeys Inn for lunch,
a traditional Irish pub dating back to 1654 and said to be
Irelands oldest thatched pub. From here you continue
south to the City North Hotel. This evening you will enjoy a
farewell dinner in your hotel. Overnight: The City North (B, L
& D)
Day 11: Depart Dublin Airport
After breakfast, you will travel to Dublin Airport for
your flight home with fond memories, newly acquired accents and
many stories to relate to friends and family.
